I regret to inform fellow admirers of Mr. Ussery that he (or someone of the same name) has passed away. An obituary follows.

"Wendell Joe Ussery of Hilltop Lakes passed away Friday, August 18, 2006 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22 at Little Flock Baptist Church with John Hornsby officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery.
Wendell was born in Hobbs, New Mexico to George and Callie (Showalter) Ussery. He married Judy (Russell) Ussery June 3, 1996 in Lovington, New Mexico was employed at Austin Construction as a project manager.
She [sic.] is survived by his wife, Judith Ussery of Hilltop Lakes; daughters, Melissa Crane of Jewett, Tami Taylor of Thornton, and Traci Ussery of Hilltop Lakes; brothers, Ted Ussery and Coy Ussery of Hobbs; sister, Carol Smasal of Copan OK; grandchildren, Joshua Taylor of Olathe, KS, Jacob Taylor of Thornton, Rion Ussery of Hilltop Lakes, Cash Crane of Jewett and Caitlyn Crane of Jewett.
Groesbeck Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements."
